Briefly about the tour
During this tour, you would get acquainted with the historical and archeological sites of the Pamirs and Tajikistan. You would enjoy the beautiful scenery with river Oxus that makes the boundary line between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, the photogenic places with shrines, signs as well as the beautiful mountain scenery of the Pamirs. And last but not the least you would observe the preserved culture, tradition and the life style of the Tajik and Pamirian people in the remote villages of the Pamirs in Bartang Valley and Wakhan. During the tour, there would be one 2-day trek to and from Gizev village plus with one day stay in Gizev in Bartang valley and 1-day hiking in Langar village (Wakhan valley) to the petroglyphs sites (over 6000 petroglyphs).
Day 1. Arrival in Dushanbe. Meeting and welcoming the guests in airport. Transfer to hotel. Evening walks across Dushanbe. B/L/D.
Day 2. Dushanbe. Visit to Gurminj Museum of traditional musical instruments and Museum of Antiquities. Excursion to Hissar Fortress, the Kohna Madrassah museum and nearby Seminary. Lunch at a local restaurant in Hissar. Driving back to Dushanbe. Overnight in Hotel in Dushanbe. B/L/D.
Day 3. Departure to the Pamirs via Tawildara and Khaburabad pass (3252 m) or via Kulyab region. When we pass over Khaburabad to Kalaikhum the scenery and the people change again. The people here are Pamiris with their own languages. Kalaikhum is located on the Panj River, a major tributary of the famous Amu Darya (Oxus) River. Accommodation in a private guesthouse. In Kalaikhum. B/L/D.
Day 4. Leaving Kalai Khum for Khorog. On the way to have stops for taking photo of the beautiful sites. In Rushan district visiting the Vomar Fortress, which has an historical story. Overnight in Guesthouse or in Hotel in KHorog. Visit to the Ethnographical Museum, Botanical Garden (one of the highest in the world) and the construction site of one of Central Asia University’s campuses, unique university of its kind that is specifically developed for the mountain regions by the Aga Khan IV the leader of Ismaili Shia Muslims of the World, and its campuses are spread in three countries, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan. Day5. Driving from Khorog to Bartang Valley with till the crossroad with the Jizew footpath. Two or three hours walk up (acclimatization) to the pristine Pamiri village of Jizev, which has no road connection and is therefore still very traditional. It is situated in a valley with many small forests and marvellous milky-turquoise lakes. Accommodation in home stay. B/L/D.
Day 6, 7. Strolling around in Jizew valley. Walking up Jizew valley to the upper lakes and the pastures of the village, going as far as you wish. The next day walking back down the way to Jizew bridge on foot. By car up the scenic and adventurous road in the Bartang valley to Bardara village. In evening arriving in Bardara in another side valley. Sightseeing in the village, seeing amazing holy trees, the Ismail prayer house and the mysterious “village fridge”. Accommodation in home stay. B/L/D.
Day 8. Start of the Trek. Station in «Miyonail». Accommodation in tents. (Luggage on animal-drawn transport).
Day 9. Walking tour to «Uchkul (means three Lakes)». Accommodation and overnight in tents.
Day 10. Station by the second lake «Uchkul». Accommodation in tents.
Day 11. Trip to «Kargizshabar» via «Chapdarakul On this day we will see an amazing lake. Chapdarkul and a flock of yaks (kutas) around the lake. Laying tents and accommodation. Stay overnight.
Day 12. Trip to Bachor. Staying overnight in «Duob». Laying tents and accommodation. Stay overnight.
Day 13. Walking tour to «Bachor». Station in Bachor Village. End of the first trek. Accommodation in private houses or guest houses. Staying overnight in «Bachor».
Day 14. Drive to «Jelondi Motel» (hot spring). Accommodation in the motel. Stay overnight in the hotel of the hot spring. Resting.
Day 15. Drive to «Duzakhdara» village. Luggage on animal-drawn transport and start of the second trek. Stay in the pasture. Laying tents, accommodation in tents.
Day 16. Walking tour to «Turumtakul». Stop by the lake. Laying tents and accommodation. Staying overnight.
Day 17. Walking tour to «Javshangoz village Roshtqala valley». End of the second trek. Stop in «Javshangoz». Accomodation in private houses or tents.
Day 18. Driving tour to «Rabot». Luggage transportation by car. Stay overnight in guest house or tents.
Day 19. Start of the 3rd (last) trek. Walking tour to «Vrang». Transportation of luggage on animal-drawn transport. Stop by the pass. Laying tents and staying overnight.
Day 20. Passing through the Vrang pass, on the way to «Vrang village». Stop over the pass. Enjoying the marvelous views of the Peak Engels and Marks. Laying tents and stay overnight.
Day 21. Walking tour to «Vrang». End of the trek. Stop in Vrang village (Wakhan corridor), Resting. Accommodation in guest house.
Day 22. Drving from Vrang to Yamchun village. Once having reached Wakhan corridor, we will proceed very slowly, as there are historical traces (caves, castles, holy places, museums and a stupa) on virtually every footsteps. From some places we have spectacular views on the Hindukush peaks. In evening we will arrive at the maybe most famous hotspring of Tajikistan, the emerald-green Bibi Fatima, which is at the same time a holy place and said to increase female fertility.
Day 23. Yamchun – Khorog. Continuing our sightseeing in Wakhan. If it is a Saturday and it is taking place, visiting the Afghan market in Ishkashim.
Continuing our road to the lively provincial capital Khorog.
Furthermore possibility to buy some handicrafts from local artisans for memory from the Pamirs and Tajikistan. Overnight in Guesthouse.
Day 24.
From Khorog to Kalai Khumb. Accommodation in a hotel or guesthouses. Resting.

Here we will deepen our understanding of how people have adapted to a life in such remote mountainous areas. Night in Home stay or in the tents on desire of the tourist.
Day 7:

Day 2: After breakfast, visit to Gurminj Museum of traditional musical instruments and Museum of Atiquities. After lunch driving to countryside to Hissar district to see the Hissar Fortress (18th c) is located 30 km west of Dushanbe. Beside the fortress, there are two Madrasahs (18th and 19th cc) and one mausoleum of 16th century. Coming back to Dushanbe, Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Departure to the Pamirs via Tawildara and Khaburabad pass (3252m) or via Kulyab region. When we pass over Khaburabad to Kalaikhum the scenery and the people change again. Day 4: Driving from Kalaikhum to Khorog. The road will follow near Panj River. Khorog is the administrative center of the Pamir region, dramatically set deep in the valley at the confluence of the Panj and Ghunt rivers and boxed in by the mountain peaks. Accommodation in hotel.
Day 5: Visiting the ethnographical museum, botanical garden (one of the highest in the world). And the construction site of one of Central Asia University’s campuses unique university of its kind that is specifically developed for the mountain regions by the Aga Khan IV the leader of Ismaili Shia Muslims of the World and its campuses are spread in three countries, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. Day 6: Khorog - Ishkashim: Not far from Khorog (45 km), there is the famous Mineral Hot Spring Garm Chashma. If we are lucky and we arrive to Ishkashim on Saturday, we will be able to visit the Crosse border Tajik-Afghan market on the Afghan side. There is no need to obtain Afghan visa for this visit. Guesthouse.
Day 7: Ishkashim to Langar. On the way, we will visit the Kah-Kaha in Namadgut one of the oldest fortress on the Silk Road. On the way, we will visit Buddhist Stupa in Vrang, sacred hot springs of Bibi Fatima Zahra, and ruins of Yamchun fortress (IV-III B.C.) that once guarded Pamir branch of the Great Silk Road. Home stay.
Day 8: Langar – Bulunkul: After breakfast we will leave the spectacular views of Afghanistan, with the ice-capped summit of the Wakhan Range, and the Pamir River and will cross Khargushi pass. Overnight in Yurt stay or Homestay.
Day 9: Yashil Kul-Alichur. After breakfast drive 3-5 km and enjoy the spectacular view of Yashilkul Lake. We will walk around the ruins of a caravanserai and solar calendar on the north side of Lake Yashil Kul. Overnight in Yurt stay or Homestay.
Day 10: Alichur - Murgab-Karakul. On the way, we will visit old color paintings in grot Shakhty and if the weather is clear enough, we will head up to the Shorbulak Observatory, from where we can see the Muztag Ata and Kongur Peaks, which are part of the Khun Lun Range (located in China). Home stay.
Day 11: Driving from Karakul to Bartang valley the remotest valley in Pamir with well-preserved culture to village Ghudara. Accommodating in Homestay. Overnight in Homestay.
Day 12. Driving down the Bartang valley to Derzud village in Rushan district. On the way meeting people talking with people of different cultures. Accommodation in homestay.
Day 13: Driving from Derzud to Dushanbe.
